More than a swim suit...
The Rams Swim Team student-athletes are exceptional people living in and around the Mecca/Thermal areas and as far as North Shore. Their homes are surrounded by vast agricultural fields and hardworking, passionate people who never ask for help and have generous hearts. The median total income of our farmworkers' families is $17,898 per year as of 2020. It seems unethical to ask a family to either keep the lights on or pay for their student's swim gear. Each student should participate in swim meets, standing tall, proud to wear their swim team uniform with pride and leaving a legacy of success for others to follow!
Children from low-income families are much less likely to play sports than those from higher-income families, according to data on children ages 6 to 17 from the National Center for Health Statistics’ 2020 National Health Interview Survey. However, the statistics are undeniable when it comes to sports and increased higher academic achievement. See below.

To help offer our student-athletes the best experience possible during their time on the swim team and participating in after school athletics programs we are asking for the following as these items are not purchased by the school:

- Participation in team sports results in a higher GPA for both high school boy and girl athletes.
- Physically active children are 15% more likely to attend college.
- Former student athletes tend to earn significantly higher incomes than those who did not play sports.
- Student athletes earn up to 40% higher test scores
To help offer our student-athletes the best experience possible during their time on the swim team and participating in after school athletics programs we are asking for the following as these items are not purchased by the school:
- Sponsor one swimmer with the gift of a "Team Spirit Pack" that includes all items below ($290)
- Purchase an embroidered parka for the team to use for years to come ($150)
- Buy a swimmer the "Swimming Pool Essentials" ($100)
